Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) - Fall & Winter 2024 Events for Kids

MoMA offers engaging art workshops for kids year-round. These events are free, though some require online registration, which opens during the first week of each month.

Fall & Winter 2024 Events (September to December)

1. Art Lab: Line, Shape, Color

  • Description: Play with line and light, draw, and create art with shapes. Drop in and explore activities that interest you.

  • Age Group: All ages welcome

  • Dates & Times: September, daily from 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM

  • Cost: Free with museum admission, no registration required

  • Location: The Heyman Family Art Lab, The Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Education and Research Building, MoMA

2. Family Gallery Talks: Art and the Senses (Ages 4-10, Ages 11-14)

  • Description: Explore art through discussions and activities that engage all the senses. Kids and adults participate together.

  • Age Group: Ages 4-14

  • Dates & Times: September 21 & 22, 10:15 AM & 12:00 PM

  • Cost: Free with advance online registration

  • Location: The Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Education and Research Building, MoMA

3. Explore This! Latin American Design

  • Description: Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with hands-on activities and explore the exhibition Crafting Modernity: Design in Latin America, 1940–1980.

  • Age Group: Ages 5 and up

  • Dates & Times: September 21, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

  • Cost: Free with advance online registration

  • Location: The Philip Johnson Galleries, MoMA

4. Family Story Time

  • Description: Enjoy story time with artful tales that inspire thinking, talking, moving, and creating. Each week features a new story, followed by activities that connect to artworks at MoMA.

  • Age Group: Ages 2 and up

  • Dates & Times: September to December, Wednesdays from 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM

  • Cost: Free, no registration required

  • Location: The Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Education and Research Building, MoMA. Enter at the Cullman Education Building (4 West 54th Street) and check in at the reception desk at 10:15 AM on the day of the program.

5. Family Gallery Talks: Get into Shape

  • Description: Discover art through interactive discussions and activities for kids and adults.

  • Age Group: Ages 4-10

  • Dates & Times: October 19 & 20, 10:15 AM & 12:00 PM

  • Cost: Free with advance online registration
